Everything you need to know before starting your program

Congratulations, if you've made it this far, you're probably very close to taking the plunge and signing up for one of our customized programs. You've seen the transformation pictures, read the testimonials but you still aren't quite ready to pull the trigger. I get that, it's a major decision and a big commitment. If you are anything like me, you are probably wondering at this point what additional costs you will incur, how much time you are going to need to dedicate to be successful and what the catch is? (Come on, I know you were thinking it...). My goal is is to break everything down for you in the sections below so that you can either take the leap or get off the ledge and let the next person who is ready to change their life step in.


Non-Monetary Commitments for Success

1. - Time: If you are the person who uses the "I don't have time" excuse for everything, do yourself a favor and close this browser and save your money. Making a major lifestyle modification takes time and effort. It doesn't mean we have to increase the time you spend in the gym, but rather increase time spent grocery shopping, preparing your meals and planning out your days to make sure you are set up to succeed regardless of what the day throws at you.


2. - Discipline: I am not going to be there to slap the twinkie out your hands and babysit. You need to have discipline and self-control. We spend the time up front to learn about the foods that you want in your diet and how to optimize the meal plan for your schedule. Temptation will ALWAYS be around the corner lurking, especially if you work in an environment that promotes daily doughnut runs and pizza friday's.


3. - Thick Skin: Unfortunately, the world in which we live in still frowns upon people making healthy decisions. Be prepared for your peers to judge you, ask you stupid questions and even offer their own nutrition advice when they are a walking medical disaster themselves. You bring a big mac and fries into work and nobody bats an eye, but if you bring in a chicken breast and veggies, everyone loses their mind. Be prepared, it will happen.


Monetary Commitments for Success

First things first, there will be additional monetary commitments that you will be required to make in order to succeed with your plan. Chances are, you probably have quite a few of the necessary items around the house already, however, my goal is to address these things up front and not after you have already purchased your plan. The health & fitness industry has done a really nice job of exploiting the consumer for monetary gain through the use of creative advertising and deception. Don't get me wrong, there are some absolutely phenomenal products out there that should be part of your overall plan, however, most of the items that have the most success are the worst offenders of them all.


The items below will be grouped into "mandatory purchase items", "strongly suggested purchase items", and "optional items to make your life easier during your plan". There may be additional items suggested and/or required for purchase AFTER the consultation phase is completed, however, that can not be determined until the discovery phase is completed. I will include links directly to Amazon in order for you to view pricing, specs & make your purchases. You do not have to purchase through Amazon, however, it will save you a great deal of time and hassle as you get ready to begin your program. Mandatory Purchase Items

These are non-negotiable and should not break the bank. As stated earlier, if you already have them at your house, you do not need to go purchase them.


Food Scale:


Measuring Cups:

  • Just like the food scale, measuring your food is essential to the success of your program

  • You will need everything from as small as a teaspoon up to 1 cup

Body Weight Scale with B/F %:

  • You will be weighing yourself as well as monitoring your body fat % throughout the program and reporting this every week

  • Although the B/F % reading will have a great deal of variability due to the low quality of the testing, it will however help us monitor progress since it will be consistent

  • We will need both body weight and B/F % in order to build your plan

This is where some of the more major cost can be incurred. We keep the mandatory items list as small as possible in order to not create additional barriers to entry, however, when we say strongly suggested, we really do mean it.


Heart Rate Monitor with Bluetooth:

  • Thanks to the help of some amazing downloadable apps, a heart rate monitor will allow us to customize elements of your program to a further extent

  • By tracking things like your HRV, RHR and HR during both down time and during bouts of activity, we can train SMARTER instead of HARDER
